Films and Screenplays

MEET THE CADAVERS

A comedy horror about a family of Zombies on vacation. My second screenplay and the first to be filmed. Written over a ten day intensive period in the summer of 2013, I re-united with producer/director David VG Davies to realise the material.

Shot mostly over weekends in October and November of that same year, I threw myself headfirst into the production, taking on many roles, as most do in indie projects.

With the film in the can, Vikki and I went to Cannes (see what I did there) in May of 2014 to get some contacts. Alas, editing has been problematic and, at the time of writing, is still underway.

However, I have no doubt that this film will eventually see the light of day. And it deserves to. Not only did a lot of people put a lot of time and effort into making it, the story itself is really good: heartwarming, touching and scary as fuck!

BLAZE OF GORY

My involvement with this indie horror came about after seeing a casting notice on Facebook. It turned out I knew the director so, when I got in touch suggesting Vikki for the main role, David VG Davies (producer/director) was keen. He also had a part for me and, before long, we were on our way to Norway to film a segment called “Snow”.

Blaze Of Gory is an anthology film based on the writings of a (then) 12 year old girl. David was sent the stories, loved them an optioned them. This has been a real labour of love for him, now many years in the works.

I was latterly asked to direct one of the segments, “Spawn Of The Devil”, to which I gladly said yes. Alas, since then, due to some legal BS, that segment has been dropped from the anthology. However, scenes from it have been cut in to one or two of the other segments, so at least some of the hard work that went into it will be seen.

SLEEP

My third full screenplay is a tense, psychological horror.

The original plan was to film this in 2014, but then all sorts of things happened which prevented this from occurring. Slightly frustrating as we had gained interest from our time at the Cannes Film Festival.

This is a film that needs to be made. The last couple of years have been a strange time for me, personally, but I will eventually put together the crew needed to shoot.

NORMALITYVILLE HORROR

This was my first ever screenplay. After coming up with the idea for it, I set about learning how to write in the format of a screenplay and spent the next six months doing it.

It was hard work, but so worth it. That moment when I printed out and bound the finished copy remains a cherished one. If only I hadn’t written a two hour sci-fi thriller, I might have been able to get the budget together to film it… d’oh!

For a more in-depth look at how I came about writing it and the processes involved, check out my “A Life Amid Crisis book”.

“Fear and ignorance has a lot to answer for. It leads to bullying. It leads to self-limitations. It leads to living a life blinkered, struggling to maintain the status quo as anything else seems scarily impossible.”
